What is Ashwagandha?

ashwagandha plant

Ashwagandha is an ancient herb native to India that’s been safely used for thousands of years. And to this day, Ashwagandha is still used to promote feelings of vitality, calmness, and strength in people.

Formally known as Withania Somnifera, Ashwagandha belongs to the Nightshade family of plants, which also contains popular vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes, and egg plants.

In the ancient Sanskrit language, Ashwagandha refers to the phrase the smell of a horse. This basically means that the Ashwagandha root smells like horse sweat, but can give you the strength of a stallion…

(A worthwhile trade off in my opinion.)

By the end of the study, the subjects’ blood sugar levels were lowered by amounts comparable to a blood sugar lowering drug.

Vitalized Future’s thoughts

The research on using Ashwagandha for building muscle and strength is fairly limited, so going off the study above, you can expect to see bigger and stronger muscles after taking Ashwagandha for 8 weeks.

But it’s important to remember to eat a calorie surplus and train progressively, otherwise Ashwagandha won’t do much.

Conclusion

But depending on what benefit you expect to see, you may need to take Ashwagandha for less or more time than expected.

Many people take supplements and expect them to work overnight, but the reality is it takes time for your body to feel and experience the full benefits.

Well, thanks for sticking with me to the end and I’ll see you in the next one.
