Chipotle After Workout (Benefits + What To Eat!)

So, you’ve just finished an intense leg session and your muscles are craving some high-quality food.

But what should you eat?

If you’re anything like me, then you’ll have already done your meal prep for the week.

But what about if you don’t have any food prepared and you’re too tired to make a meal from scratch?

Would eating at Chipotle make for a good post workout meal?

The answer is YES, and in this article, I explain why that’s the case as well the best items to get from Chipotle after the gym.

Chipotle

Benefits of Chipotle After Workout

Chipotle Use Real Ingredients

Chipotle pride themselves on using 53 real ingredients in all their meals.

By real, they mean nothing artificial, like flavor enhancers and other nasty chemicals that you don’t want in your body.

This is great if you’re trying to eat healthy, as one of the causes of over-eating is addictive flavor enhancers, like MSG.

(I don’t know about you, but I can easily eat a full large bag of Doritos in one sitting. This is due to the MSG which makes them so addictive and more-ish.)

Since Chipotle stay clear from these unhealthy ingredients, you’re unlikely to over-eat which will help prevent you from gaining unwanted fat.

Eating At Chipotle Saves You Time And Energy

I don’t know about you, but when I’ve finished an exhausting workout, I’m never in the mood to prepare and cook food.

One of the reasons is that my muscles are fatigued, so having to dice chicken and stir it constantly for 15 minutes is a pain.

(Especially when you have T-Rex arms after a workout!)

This is why I like to meal prep, so all my meals are made in advance.

But what about if you don’t meal prep?

Well, the good news is that you can get a healthy burrito whipped up in Chipotle in under 10 minutes with no effort required!

This is ideal if you want to get some protein into your system as soon as possible and would rather not cook a meal from scratch.

Chipotle Meals Are High In Protein And Carbohydrates

After a workout, you should be eating a reasonable amount of protein and carbohydrates.

Protein is important for facilitating protein synthesis, which helps your muscles repair and grow.

Whereas carbohydrates are important for replenishing the glycogen used to fuel your workout.

A quick look through Chipotle’s menu shows that you can easily get a decent amount of protein and carbohydrates in any of their items.

For example, a chicken burrito with white rice, black beans, and roasted chili-corn salsa provides the following macros:

  • 23g of fat
  • 55g of protein
  • 128g of carbs

These macros are perfect for a post-workout meal, especially if you’re bulking.

Whereas a steak burrito bowl with brown rice, pinto beans, and fresh tomato salsa provides the following macros:

  • 14g of fat
  • 33g of protein
  • 62g of carbs

Again, this is a solid post-workout meal and would be ideal for those who are cutting.

Chipotle Provide The Nutritional Breakdown Of Each Meal

If you’re serious about getting into good shape (the fact that you’re reading this article tells me you are), then you really need to be tracking your macros.

But one of the downsides of eating out is that restaurants rarely provide the nutritional breakdown of their meals.

This makes macro-tracking impossible.

Whereas Chipotle tell you exactly how many calories are in each of their meals, including the amount of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.

It’s as if Chipotle was built with bodybuilders in mind!

What To Get From Chipotle After Gym?

This depends on your training goals and what food you like.

As covered earlier, a great bulking meal after the gym would be a chicken burrito with white rice, black beans, and roasted chilli-corn salsa.

This meal provides a whopping 920 calories, making it great for those who are trying to put on size.

If you don’t like chicken, then feel free to go for a different protein source, like steak.

Whereas if you’re trying to lose weight, then you could go for a steak burrito bowl with brown rice, pinto beans, and fresh tomato salsa.

This meal would give you a respectable 515 calories with a good ratio of macros.

There are great veggie protein sources too, like sofritas, which is a plant-based protein.

Is A Burrito Bowl Good After Workout?

A burrito bowl can make for an excellent meal after a workout.

Remember, the key is to get plenty of carbohydrates and proteins into your body after exercise, and a burrito bowl can provide just that.

I’d always recommend getting rice and beans in your burrito bowl, as this is where most of the carbohydrates come from.

Why Do Bodybuilders Like Chipotle?

Chipotle is arguably the best fast-food restaurant for bodybuilders, for the following reasons:

  • It uses only natural, healthy ingredients with no artificial flavor enhancers.
  • Chipotle provide the macronutrient breakdown of any meal you order there, making it great for tracking macros and calories.
  • Most meals at Chipotle are high in protein and calories, with low amounts of unhealthy fats.

Should You Have Chipotle Before Or After The Gym?

Since Chipotle provide a variety of healthy meals, it doesn’t particularly matter whether you eat there before or after the gym.

Either can work.

However, I wouldn’t advise eating a Chipotle in the 30-minute period before working out, as from my experience, you’ll likely feel sluggish when exercising with a stomach full of food.

My preference would be to eat at Chipotle after the gym as it means you don’t have to make food when you’re fatigued.

Is Chipotle Good For Protein?

Chipotle meals provide a great source of protein.

They include various high-quality protein sources like chicken and steak, and you have the option of adding beans to your order, which are another good source of protein.

Conclusion

In summary:

  • There are many benefits to eating at Chipotle after a workout.
  • Chipotle use high-quality ingredients in their meals, making them ideal for bodybuilders.
  • You can track your macros when eating at Chipotle.

That’s all for this article, but why doesn’t protein fill you up? Or can almond milk make your breasts bigger?

Hope this helped!
